Starting a 3D Printing Business on Etsy: Pricing and Shipping Guide

Etsy has emerged as the premier online marketplace for makers and micro-businesses.   • Example:

    • Etsy fees = 6.5% (Transaction) + 3% (Payment) = 9.5% (0.095).
    • Your desired profit margin is 40% (0.40).
    • Flat fees = $0.20 (Listing) + $0.25 (Payment) = $0.45.

To make a 40% clean profit after fees on a product that costs $10.00 to make and $5.00 to ship, you must list it for $30.59.

4. Shipping and Packaging Strategy

  • Use double-walled boxes for delicate items.
  • Do not use envelopes or bubble mailers for structural prints—pressure in sorting machines will break them.
